Diagnostic-first Business Coaching

Before strategy comes diagnosis — where is your business actually stuck?

Most coaching programmes begin with advice. Ours begins with a rigorous diagnostic that reveals the real constraints holding your business back. Only then do we build a plan worth following.

Take the readiness check
"We thought we needed a new sales strategy. The diagnostic showed us we had a leadership alignment problem. Fixing that unlocked growth we hadn't seen in years." — Fiona Greig, Managing Director, Atherton Logistics

The fit-check: is diagnostic coaching right for you?

Not every business needs a coach. Some need a consultant, an accountant, or simply more time. Here is how to tell the difference.

You need coaching if…

You can articulate the symptoms — flat revenue, team friction, decision fatigue — but you cannot pinpoint the root cause. Coaching provides the structured thinking partner who helps you see what proximity hides.

High fit

You need consulting if…

You know exactly what needs doing but lack specialist expertise to execute. A consultant delivers the playbook; a coach helps you become the leader who can run any playbook.

Different need

You need both if…

Your business faces a strategic pivot and you personally need to grow into a new leadership mode at the same time. We often collaborate with specialist consultants while handling the leadership dimension ourselves.

Combined approach

Our diagnostic framework

Every engagement follows a structured five-lens analysis. Each lens examines a different layer of business health, ensuring nothing critical is missed before we design your coaching roadmap.

LensWhat we examineTypical findings
Leadership clarityDecision-making patterns, vision articulation, personal energy managementFounders operating reactively rather than strategically
Revenue architecturePricing logic, pipeline health, customer concentration riskOver-reliance on a single revenue channel
Team alignmentRole clarity, accountability structures, communication cadenceMisaligned priorities between departments

Growth readinessMarket positioning, scalability constraints, financial runwayGrowth ambitions unsupported by current infrastructure

Why most business advice fails

Generic advice assumes a generic business. But your constraints are specific: your market, your team composition, your cash-flow cycle, your personal leadership style. A diagnostic approach respects that specificity. Instead of handing you a template, we build a coaching programme around the actual friction points your business faces right now.

Our founder spent fourteen years inside operational businesses before becoming a coach. That experience means we speak the language of P&L sheets, hiring decisions, and board dynamics — not just motivational theory. Every recommendation is grounded in commercial reality.

Your coaching journey

1

Discovery call

A thirty-minute conversation where we listen to your situation, ask targeted questions, and determine whether a full diagnostic is warranted. No charge, no obligation.

2

Five-lens diagnostic

Over two focused sessions we apply the diagnostic framework. You receive a written report highlighting the three to five most impactful constraints, ranked by urgency and leverage.

3

Roadmap design

Together we translate diagnostic findings into a ninety-day coaching roadmap with measurable milestones. Each milestone maps to a specific business outcome, not a vague aspiration.

4

Coaching sprints

Fortnightly one-hour sessions where we tackle roadmap priorities. Between sessions you execute agreed actions; we provide async support via email when needed.

5

Progress review and recalibration

At the ninety-day mark we reassess, celebrate wins, and decide whether to extend, refocus, or graduate. Many clients complete two to three cycles before operating fully independently.

What changes after coaching

Real outcomes reported by past clients, not hypothetical promises.

From reactive to strategic

Leaders reclaim an average of six hours per week previously lost to firefighting, redirecting that time toward growth-oriented work.

From isolated to supported

Founders gain a confidential thinking partner who challenges assumptions without political agenda — something most leadership teams cannot provide.

From stalled to accelerating

Businesses that complete a full coaching cycle typically see measurable revenue or margin improvement within six months of starting.

From overwhelmed to focused

By identifying the few constraints that matter most, leaders stop spreading effort across dozens of initiatives and concentrate on the vital few.

Hamish Dalrymple, CEO, Northpoint Digital "The diagnostic uncovered a pricing problem we had been ignoring for two years. Addressing it added fifteen percent to our gross margin within one quarter."
Claire Buchanan, Founder, Venn Interiors "I was drowning in operational detail. Coaching helped me hire the right operations lead and step back into a genuine leadership role for the first time."
Ravi Patel, Director, Solace Engineering "Structured, honest, and commercially sharp. This is nothing like the fluffy coaching I had tried before."
